Advising
Advisors are available to meet with students to provide support on topics like career and academic planning, transitioning to a university, and how to enhance college success skills.
Before you meet with an advisor, we recommend reviewing our General Advising Guide. This guide provides a checklist with action items based on your degree and number of credits. It will be a helpful resource to review before connecting with an advisor.

The Virtual Advising Center is for students who cannot visit a campus or schedule
an appointment during business hours. When you access this service, you will be connected
virtually to the first available advisor. Please know that the wait time varies depending
on the time of year. You must download the Zoom app to your device or smartphone to connect.
Note: During times of high volume, our scheduling queue may close when our capacity
to serve students admitted into the virtual lobby has been met.

What to Expect
-
After clicking on the Sign in to the Virtual Advising Center button, you will be asked to choose which department you would like to sign in to. Select the Advising Center.
-
Next, you will be asked to enter your student Valencia ID (VID). (If you don’t have a VID yet, click “Don’t have a student VID number yet” and fill in your information.)
-
Then, you will select the reason for your visit from the drop-down options listed.
-
From there, you will be prompted to enter your cell phone number. We can text you updates while you wait, so we highly recommend including your phone number.
-
Once signed in, you will be placed in a virtual line – be sure to monitor your phone/device for updates.
-
When it is your turn to be seen, we will send you a unique Zoom link for your meeting.
-
Click on your Zoom link as soon as you receive it to join your advisor’s virtual office.
-
You will have 3 minutes to join the space before we need to call the next student, so be sure to have your phone/device close by and be ready to log in.
-
You will meet one-on-one with an advisor for individual assistance.
-
At the conclusion of the meeting, you will select leave meeting to exit the Zoom space.
-
Please have a photo ID available for your visit.
-
Proper dress required: If you are going to use a web cam to interact with our advisors, it’s important that you dress appropriately — just like you would in a traditional, face-to-face meeting.
-
When connecting with the Virtual Advising Center, it’s important you are able to fully engage with an advisor. You should never visit the Virtual Advising Center when you’re driving, and we recommend you avoid visiting the Virtual Advising Center when you are engaged in another activity that limits your attention during the session.
Using Zoom
Before joining the Zoom session to connect with an advisor, make sure you have access to a computer, tablet or smart phone with an enabled microphone. You don’t have to have a webcam to participate, but you are welcome to use one if you would like to do so.
You will need to download and install the Zoom app to your smart phone/device to connect.
