Associate in Science (A.S.) Degree
The Graphic and Interactive Design Associate in Science (A.S.) degree at Valencia College prepares you to go directly into a specialized career in graphic design, branding, advertising design, web design or interactive (UI/UX) design.
From design thinking and the creative process to executing ideas using industry-standard creative technology, you’ll receive hands-on experience and learn employable skills that prepare you to enter directly into a career with a competitive portfolio. With a trusted reputation in the Orlando creative industry, we count among our alumni some of the most talented designers in central Florida. Our students have received recognition in local, regional, national and even international competitions. Their accomplishments include over 100 ADDY Awards, Florida Print Awards, the Create Awards, the ONE Show, Print Magazine and Siggraph.
Specializations
The Graphic Design Specialization prepares you to become a graphic designer, UI designer, brand designer, advertising designer, web and print layout designer, concept developer, and production artist focusing studies primarily on graphic design for printed media.
The Interactive Design Specialization prepares students to become interactive and web designers, UI designers, front-end web coders, social media art creators, interactive media campaign designers, and web production designers focusing studies primarily on designing interfaces and interactivity for web-based and on-screen media.
Program Outcomes
Associate in Science (A.S.)
- Demonstrate entry-level technical competencies in pre-press production using industry-standard software.
- Produce a portfolio that demonstrates design and typography proficiencies.
- Produce a resume, personal brand, and self-promotional item(s) that demonstrate design and typography proficiencies.
- Solve complex problems by applying design thinking processes and visual communication principles to printed collateral.
- Perform industry-defined workplace skills in thinking, valuing, communicating, and acting.
It's highly recommended that students seeking a degree work with a student success coach who can give them information customized for their unique situation.

Classrooms and Learning Spaces
The Graphic and Interactive Design program has three Graphics Mac computer labs classrooms, including an open lab where students can use or check out equipment. Each lab features industry-standard technology, ranging from 27” Mac workstations to large format, laser and 3D printers to digital cameras, photography lighting, light cubes and backdrops.

Graphics Internship
If you are currently enrolled in or have successfully completed either GRA 2182C Advanced Graphic Design II or GRA 2143C Advanced Web Page Design, then you met the prerequisite and you should be applying for an internship now.

You don’t need to be enrolled in the Graphic and Interactive Design degree program to take related courses at Valencia College.

Location
General Studies courses can be taken at any Valencia College campus. Graphic and Interactive Design open lab facilities are located on the East, West and Osceola campuses.
