Distance Testing

Valencia College Testing and Assessment provides secure, in-person proctoring for students taking online or distance learning courses from other colleges and universities that require exams be administered in a proctored environment. Our Testing Centers provide distance course testing for non-Valencia College students on an appointment-basis. We are unable to support proctoring services for local institutions, employers, agencies, or certification boards. 

About the Testing Center

Distance Testing exams may be administered as paper & pencil or computer-based. The following browsers and platforms are supported: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Canvas, MyMathLab, and Respondus Lockdown Browser. Student use of personal computers is strictly prohibited in the Testing Center.

ID Policy:

Students must bring a physical valid form of photo identification. Pictures of IDs or electronic IDs will not be accepted. Acceptable forms of ID’s include: 

  •  A student ID 
  •  A current driver’s license 
  •  A current state or federal ID card (such as a Green Card) 
  •  A current passport 

Hours and Availability

Tests are administered on an appointment basis Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, except for holidays and college closures. During peak periods, appointments availability may be limited. Please reference the Academic Calendar for college closures. 

Registration

It is the student's responsibility to communicate and coordinate with their instructor or institution their plans to test with Valencia College. Appointments must be scheduled 72 hours in advance (walk-ins will not be accepted). 

Registration and Fees

Appointments are booked in time blocks based on the length of the exam. Exams timed at more than four hours require approval. The proctoring fee for distance testing students is $35.00 per exam and must be paid at the time of registration via RegisterBlast. All exam fees are nonrefundable. 

NOTE: For exams timed at more than four hours, students must email distancetesting@valenciacollege.edu detailing the nature of the exam for approval purposes. 

Appointment Scheduling

Distance Testing appointments may be scheduled at the Poinciana Campus or Winter Park Campus. To schedule an appointment select your desired campus below:

After completing your registration, verify with your instructor or institution that exam materials have been sent before your scheduled appointment. If materials are not received before your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule. 

Exam Materials

  • Exam materials must be sent to distancetesting@valenciacollege.edu two (2) business days before the student’s scheduled appointment. Alternatively, the Distance Proctoring Request Form can be completed by the instructor or institution.
  • Include the time limit, allowed resources, password, return requirements, and required browser or platform.
  • Paper exam will be scanned and emailed upon completion. If postal service is required, the student must supply postage and envelope for mailing. 

 

Location Information

If your institution requires a signed Proctor Agreement Form prior to testing, please email the form to distancetesting@valenciacollege.edu. The signed form will be returned via email to your institution.
