Credit for Prior Learning and Experience
Earn college credit toward associate and bachelor’s degree programs at Valencia College for prior learning and experience. Below are the types of Award of Credit and Alternative Award of Credit Agreements. Eligible students may earn college credits toward a degree if you complete one of the approved programs or have work or life experience that meets all of the requirements.
Valencia College offers more than 150 degree and certificate programs to meet your career goals.

Valencia College awards college credit at no cost (other than the application for admission fee) to eligible students who have completed one of the approved Accelerated Skills Training (AST) programs at Valencia College, and met all of the requirements to receive the college credit as listed in this articulation agreement.

Veterans should submit all copies of transcripts from military experience for credit evaluation along with any other official college transcripts.

Students may be eligible to receive college credit for current and valid industry certifications toward designated programs.

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP®) is a series of standardized tests that helps you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. If you have obtained knowledge outside the classroom, the CLEP® gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your proficiency in the subject area and bypass undergraduate coursework.

Valencia students may be awarded credit for demonstration of knowledge gained from life experience or experiences outside the classroom. This learning may result from an industry certification, in-service training, or experience acquired during employment. To seek credit, the competencies that a student has acquired need to relate to the learning outcomes of the course(s). Students provide documentation of the learning experience (transcripts, certificates) and/or verify where the knowledge was obtained (employment records).
